As we all know the preliminary phase exam of RRB officer (scale I) has started this week. It has been reported that the online RRB Officer (Scale I) Preliminary examination held on 9th & 10th September 2017 was easy to moderate in terms of difficulty level. A similar trend was observed for all the exams held across all slots on these two days.

Prelims Analysis:

The preliminary phase contains two sections Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability. An analysis of the above-mentioned session is given below.

Quantitative Aptitude :

In Quantitative Aptitude, 40 questions were asked for 40 marks, the difficulty level of this section is easy to moderate and a little bit calculative. There were 15 questions on Data Interpretation (which included one on tabular set, one on a line graph and one on pie chart). The questions on data given in table were quite lengthy and calculation based.

Individual questions in this section were based on topics like Ages, Time and Distance, Time and Work, Averages, Mixtures & Alligations, Profit and Loss, Partnership, Probability, and Mensuration. Students have informed us that these questions were a combo of easy and moderate ones. One needed a good command on fundamentals to attempt these questions successfully. There were 5 questions each on Approximations, Number Series, and Quadratic Comparisons, all of which were easy to tackle.

Reasoning Ability :

In this section also  40 questions were asked for 40 marks, the difficulty level of this section was easy to moderate.
There were 20 questions on Puzzles (Circular, Linear (Two row), Box puzzle and Date/Month based puzzle), and all of these questions can be labeled easy to moderate. Questions on Symbols Notations, Coding-Decoding and Deductions were easy to crack. No question was asked from topics like Blood relations and Direction sense.

Miscellaneous (Letter Series, Word formation, Sequence etc..): 5

Good Attempts:

Over All: 55-63

Overall, the paper can be rated slightly easier as compared to the same exam that was conducted in 2016.
